The Measure Of A Man Martin Luther King Jr 9781258203498 Books
This short book is two speeches given by MLK in 1958 at the first National Conference on Christian Education of the United Church of Christ. They are entitled "What is Man?" and "The Dimensions of a Complete Life".The book is only 34 pages, with wide margins. It shouldn't take you more than two days to read it.
Many reviewers have commented on the material in the book so I'll just add that what MLK talked about is just as relevant today as it was in 1958. We still need these messages. We still need someone to bring them to our society. We still struggle in many ways and I'd like believe MLK could have helped us alleviate some of the pain. You should read this book. You never know, you might be the next MLK.

The Measure Of A Man Martin Luther King Jr 9781258203498 Books Reviews
I chose to read this book because I wanted to begin understanding the mind of Martin Luther King, Jr., especially as it related to the black man and his struggle for freedom in America. Honestly, this was a short read, and not specifically about race.
However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading these two short lectures given by King. He has incredible insight into what exactly is the measure of a man. His words beg the hearer to consider how he relates to himself, his fellow man, and his Creator.
It should be required reading for every person, especially anyone wanting to understand the very foundation of Kong's understanding of men and drive to see them stand equally one with another in his country.
This book joins my library on Dr. King. It provides nothing new, but still serves to remind me of the greatness of this man. He always sought to find the essence of truth in his endeavors to expand the freedom of Blacks - and hence the entire population. This book is a quick read, which should endear it to those normally too impatient to read much.
I didn't know what to expect, other than impressive oratory, but his writing is extraordinarily clear. I'm not sure about that quote from HG Wells, it doesn't seem verifiable, and Wells was an atheist who said nothing in support of religion and said a great deal against it. but a great read — I'm going to read the rest of his books over the next week.
Jeeez I love this guy. MLK was an amazing Christian man with a heart of gold that we obviously could use these days. I'm a white guy Christian, I've read this book more than twice. I've read MLK's other works and am just amazed at his heart and his way of communicating true peace. It's like the Bible explained in ordinary language.
This book - these words, these thoughts, and these concepts - are every bit as relevant today as when Dr. King wrote it, and every bit as needed in the world. Clear and eloquent in his statements, with the deep and assured conviction of a tried-and-true faith, he cuts through the complications of human existence and brings us the truth that truly has the power to set any man or woman free. Everyone should read this book, ponder what it has to say, and pray for true understanding of what it really means.
Extraordinarily concise with such an astoundingly well crafted word. Must have been a miraculous man for just such a time as his to articulate words for the millennia. He'll be mentioned with the best of the greatest of theologians and be remembered much better too. Which is good cause we need him.
Dr. Martin Luther King's short but powerful book containing two meditations or sermons from 1958 at The First National Conference on Christian Education of the United Church of Christ are as important and relevant today as they were fifty years ago. What a joy it is to read the words of a brilliant and faithful mind who understood what the purpose of our humanity is and the theology behind it. The Measure of a Man and The Dimensions of a Complete Life are both contained in this concise but clearly understandable and excellent reprint of two of King's sermons . I'll read this more than once.
